The external monitor suddenly goes black

The sudden black screen of an external display can be caused by the following reasons:

1. Graphics card problem: It may be that the graphics card is not compatible with the display mode, you can try to reset the graphics card driver. For example, if you want to use the NVIDIA GeForce Experience software, you can use the NVIDIA GeForce Experience software, select Reinstall Driver, then Custom Install, and select Perform Clean Install in the GeForce Game Ready Driver window, and the installer will clear the previous settings and reinstall the driver.

2. Driver Issues: You can try updating the drivers. Locate the display adapter in Device Manager, right-click on the graphics card option, select Update Driver, and select Search for updated driver software automatically.

3. Problems with monitor settings: You can try to detect the monitor manually. In the display settings, find the detection under the multi-monitor setting, click it to detect some older monitors, and then connect them manually.

4. Data cable problem: You can try to replace the data cable. Replace the VGA data cable with an HDMI data cable, because VGA can only transmit images, and HDMI is capable of transmitting images and audio.

5. Power Settings Issues: You can change the power plan of your graphics card to Maximum Performance in the power settings to improve the performance of your graphics card.

The above methods can be tried according to the specific situation, and if the problem persists, it is recommended to contact a professional to check and fix it.
